Venting...right or wrong?

Gents-

Today we viewed a blog that someone posted. (If you know, respect the individuals right of privacy and do not include any names. My question to you is this.

Had something like this been posted in China, critical of the government, ... ok, nevermind that question.

Seriously, there were many points that the blogger brougth up that are worth a discussion. Please read the questions below and chime in with your opinion. BE CIVIL AND MAKE YOUR POINTS ELOQUENTLY.

What issues do you think were presented well? Which ones were not? Is a blog like the one posted this morning an acceptable forum for discussing these things? Why or why not?

We all have opinions, did this "blogger" step over the line? Why or why not?

Were there any issues that you feel really should be addressed? What kind of solution can you offer to any of the concerns mentioned?

Funny how I just asked you the other day about problems in school.

  1. I feel most points were brought up with some truth yet they were very stereotypical and basically just crossed the line. I feel the specific shout outs to Nick and JJ were absurd, its one thing to point out the basketball team for something but naming individual people isn't right.

I feel this blog could have been acceptable but took a step in the wrong direction from the beginning. I feel a student should lead the way in an acceptable form of this blog to better the school.

  2. There clearly was a boundry that was over stepped. I feel that this is an all boys school and for some reason I feel like I am watching the movie "Mean Girls".

That's all I have to say. I don't think that we should give this person so much credit and keep talking about him and his posts.

  3. I think the underlining message here wether he crossed the line or not is that there is problems at this school.

Now that that is out of the way I do not believe that this individual handled his concerns the right way. Lke Tim said, solo chirps are unacceptable if your gona call people out call out the team as a whole. There are certainly ways that this individual could have handled this to make it a legit cry for help.

However think about this. Whose to blame the school or this individual about the manner in which these issues surfaced. Had there been an alternative way in which this person felt comfortable voicing his opinion maybe there would be less emotion involved and more factual concerns. So my question is this Is the school to blame for not creating an enviorment in which students and faculty alike can voice their opions openly in a way in which that person feels their voive is being heard?

  4. venting is bad and Thee Cardinal took it too far with jj and nick but mostly people thought it was funny but i just feel that this person waited to long to bring this out he/she should have said something earlier in the year about this situation he/she has.

  5. I was trying to come up with some type of response either disagreeing or agreeing but all I can say is that I completely agree with what was said and have nothing further to add.
